Hell on Wheels, The Good Wife, and Community

-AMC has announced that Hell on Wheels will be returning for a fifth and final season consisting of 14 episodes. Community has hired Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) and Keith David (Enlisted) to join the comedy full time for season 6. Brewster will play Francesca “Frankie” Dart, a consultant hired to help shape things up at the underachieving school. David will play Elroy Patashnik, a retired scientist who comes to Greendale to reinvent himself. -Chris Elliot (How I Met Your Mother, Everybody Loves Raymond) will guest star on The Good Wife as an English professor who is brought in to help wannabe State’s Attorney Alicia prepare for her looming debate against opponent Frank Prady (David Hyde Pierce). -Starz has ordered a follow-up series to the cult “Evil Dead” film franchise, titled Ash vs. Evil Dead. Bruce Campbell will reprise his role as Ash. The series will be about “when a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons–personal and literal. Anthem, Limitless, and Little Women!

-ABC is set to develop an event/limited series of a modern take on Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. Marvel’s Agent Carter has cast Bridget Regan (Jane the Virgin) as Peggy’s neighbor Dottie, a small-town girl from Iowa who’ll have a huge impact on the life of the titular heroine. -PBS has announced a second-season pickup for ITV’s sitcom Vicious, starring Ian McKellan and Derek Jacobi. -A Limitless TV sequel is in the works at CBS. Gotham is set to add another iconic villain. The show revealed they will add the Scarecrow this season. Justified, Billy & Billie, and A Series of Unfortunate Events!

-Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous, Gone Girl) has landed the the lead role in Cinemax’s new exorcism drama Outcast, based off Robert Kirkman’s comic series of the same name out this summer. Other cast members include Philip Glenister (Life on Mars) and Gabriel Bateman (Stalker, Annabelle). Fugit will star as Kyle Barnes, a young man who’s been plagued by possession since he was a child. He sets out to seek answers, only to uncover something that could end all life on Earth as we know it. Glenister will play Reverend Anderson and Bateman has been cast as 8-year-old Joshua Austin. Justified has cast Jeff Fahey (Lost, Under the Dome) in a multi-episode arc. -Netflix is adapting Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events into a live-action series. -Geoff Stults (Enlisted) is set to co-write a multi-camera comedy for CBS, as well as possibly star in it himself. -Rosie O’Donnell is set to guest star on additional episodes of ABC Family’s The Fosters. -Damian Lewis is set to star in a new drama series pilot with Paul Giamatti on Showtime. The duo will star in Billions, which explores the world of high finance by following “the approaching collision between two titanic figures — the hard charging, whip-smart U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhodes (Giamatti), the brilliant, ambitious hedge fund king, Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Lewis).” The show will be filmed in New York in early 2015. http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/10/24/damian-lewis-showtime/

-Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) will star in Syfy’s miniseries Childhood’s End, based on the sci-fi classic by Arthur C. Clarke. The six-hour miniseries follows a breed of aliens called the “Overlords,” who manage to peacefully invade and rule Earth, and create a pseudo-utopia that comes at the price of human identity and culture. -Kelli Garner (Pan Am, My Generation) is set to star in the title role in Lifetime’s Marilyn. The miniseries is based on J. -The CW is launching a four-part digital series titled The Originals: The Awakening, which will focus on Kol’s (from the show) story. The story will take place in 1914, when Kol was attempting to form an alliance with the witches of the French Quarter. The web series will star Nathaniel Buzolic as Kol, who’s currently being played by Daniel Sharman on the show. South of Hell, Bloodline, and The Real Housewives of New York!

-Zachary Booth (Damages) is joining South of Hell, WE tv’s eight-episode supernatural thriller opposite Mena Suvari. The show is set in South Carolina, and centers on Maria Abascal (Mena Suvari), a skilled and fearless demon-hunter-for-hire. Like those that she hunts, Maria is divided within herself, struggling with her own internal demon named Abigail. Booth will play the series-regular role of David, Maria’s brother, who is also a fellow demon hunter. -Lifetime has ordered a six-episode limited series based on the original movie Lizzie Borden Took An Ax. The show, Lizzie Borden: The Fall River Chronicles, stars Christina Ricci, who will reprise her role as the notorious murder. The series will debut in 2015. -Netflix has announced a new series, Bloodline, which will premiere in March 2015. Set in the Florida Keys, the show centers on a close-knit family of four adult siblings whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother returns home. -Fox has ordered a pilot for a modern day Frankenstein. It will be a sci-fi drama centering on a morally corrupt FBI agent called Adam Tremble.
