-Courtney Love will be joining the cast of Fox’s midseason drama Empire in a recurring guest star role. She will play Elle Dallas, “a hard rock powerhouse, who is part of Empire Entertainment’s stable of artists.” http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/10/23/courtney-love-drama/

-James Corden will take over The Late Late Show on CBS on March 9, 2015 but apparently a rotating roster of guest hosts will take over the show until then. -Cody Simpson (Australian pop star, teen idol) is joining the cast of Cougar Town for its sixth and final season airing in early 2015, for one episode. -Netflix has greenlighted F is For Family, a six-episode animated series based on the comedy of Bill Burr. The family comedy will debut in 2015. The show follows the Murphy family in the 1970s–“a time when you could smack your kid, smoke inside, and bring a gun to the airport.” Burr will voice Frank Murphy, the family’s extreme patriarch; Laura Dern will voice Frank’s wife, Sue, and Justin Long will voice the family’s oldest son, Kevin. http://deadline.com/2014/10/bill-burr-animated-series-vince-vaughn-netflix-857571/

Gotham has cast Morena Baccarin as Dr. Leslie Tompkins, “a gifted and dedicated physician who was a friend of Thomas and Martha Wayne. She is determined to use her skills to aid Gotham’s most in need, which currently means working at the newly opened Arkham Asylum’s House for the Criminally Insane.” The character is from the original comics. -Showtime has found a replacement for Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Happyish, Steve Coogan will now play Thom Payne. It will now go back to the pilot stage and production will begin in New York. No word on if anyone from the original cast (Rhys Ifans, Kathryn Hahn) will return. -Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist) has been cast opposite Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies in Colony, USA Network’s family drama/thriller pilot about life in Los Angeles after a mysterious “foreign” occupation. Bates Motel has cast Kevin Rahm (Mad Men) for a recurring role during season 3. He will play Bob Paris, the wealthy, self-involved and gregarious owner of an elite hunting club who grew up with Sheriff Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell). -The Bewitched follow up series has landed at NBC with a pilot production commitment. The new version is a reimagining of the original series two generation later. It centers on Daphne–Samantha’s granddaughter and Tabitha’s daughter– a single twenty-something witch who has always used her magical powers to conjure herself the perfect life. The Walking Dead companion series, The Late Late Show, Manhunt, and more!

-A The Walking Dead companion series pilot is on the verge of becoming an actual series. AMC has officially ordered a pilot set in the same zombie-plagued universe as The Walking Dead. The untitled project will go into production later this year and will be set in a different location than the original series as well as star a new cast of characters. Scandal is changing the first daughter! Instead of Madeline Carroll playing the role of First Daughter Karen Grant, Mary Mouser (Body of Proof) will be taking over the role, which will apparently get much bigger during season four. -CBS has announced that James Corden (Gavin and Stacey) is the new host of The Late Late Show after Craig Ferguson announced that he would be stepping down as the host in December. He will take over next year at some point. http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-29113080

-NBC has ordered a 10-episode straight to series order of an anthology drama called Manhunt. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will be heading to Austin for Election 2014 coverage. They will be there for a week of shows leading up to Election Day 2014, broadcasting in the capital city where the indicted Texas governor still rules. “Democalypse 2014: South by South Mess” will be taped at ZACH Theatre in Austin, airing at 11pm ET/PT from Monday, October 27 through Thursday October 30, 2014. -Halle Berry and House executive producer Katie Jacobs are teaming up for another medical drama with an unorthodox protagonist. -Zachary Quinto has been cast in a provocative mini-series The Slap. The show is billed as a complex family drama about what happens after a man slaps another couple’s misbehaving child Quinto will play the role of Harry, the slapper.
