The Walking Dead companion series, The Late Late Show, Manhunt, and more!

-A The Walking Dead companion series pilot is on the verge of becoming an actual series. AMC has officially ordered a pilot set in the same zombie-plagued universe as The Walking Dead. The untitled project will go into production later this year and will be set in a different location than the original series as well as star a new cast of characters. Scandal is changing the first daughter! Instead of Madeline Carroll playing the role of First Daughter Karen Grant, Mary Mouser (Body of Proof) will be taking over the role, which will apparently get much bigger during season four. -NBC has ordered a 10-episode straight to series order of an anthology drama called Manhunt. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will be heading to Austin for Election 2014 coverage. They will be there for a week of shows leading up to Election Day 2014, broadcasting in the capital city where the indicted Texas governor still rules. “Democalypse 2014: South by South Mess” will be taped at ZACH Theatre in Austin, airing at 11pm ET/PT from Monday, October 27 through Thursday October 30, 2014. -Halle Berry and House executive producer Katie Jacobs are teaming up for another medical drama with an unorthodox protagonist. -Zachary Quinto has been cast in a provocative mini-series The Slap. The show is billed as a complex family drama about what happens after a man slaps another couple’s misbehaving child Quinto will play the role of Harry, the slapper. -Yvette Nicole Brown (Community) has landed a recurring role on the reboot of The Odd Couple. She will play Dani, assistant to Matthew Perry’s Oscar. She has replaced Sarah Baker, who was let go shortly after the show was ordered to series. This does not mean that she is leaving Community‘s sixth season reboot on Yahoo Screen and is expected to return to the show in some capacity. Since they have different shooting schedules, she could conceivably do both. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has added Henry Simmons (NYPD Blue) in a recurring role as agent Alphonso “Mac” Mackenzie, a mechanic in his early 30s. -Danny Masterson (That ’70s Show) will have a guest starring role on USA’s series Royal Pains in which he will play the brother of returning guest Kyle Howard (My Boys). Kyle Howard first appeared on season 3 as Dr. Paul Van Dyke but left to start his own concierge practice in Miami. Paul will come back fro the season 6 finale as a patient of HankMed’s. Masterson will play Paul’s brother, Danny Van Dyke, a wealthy hedge fund manager who needs a kidney transplant but is reluctant to accept his brother’s organ. Hopkins will play Dr. Robert Ford, the brilliant, taciturn and complicated creative director, chief programmer, and chairman of the board of Westworld. Woods will portray Dolores Abernathy, the quintessential farm girl of the frontier West, who is about to discover that her entire idyllic existence is an elaborately constructed lie. The Mindy Project has cast Rhea Perlman (Cheers) in a recurring role for season 3 as Danny Castellano’s mother, Annette Castellano.
