There is so much news! I probably should have done another post earlier in the week but I was so swamped with midterms (since I’m still in college) that I just didn’t have time. This honestly may have to be 3 posts. This is post 2/3.

-Sam Neill (Merlin, Peaky Blinders) has joined the cast of CBS’ The Dovekeepers, a four hour miniseries, based on the Alice Hoffman’s historical novel about extraordinary women whose lives intersect in a fight for survival at the siege of Masada. -Victor Garber (Alias) has booked a guest-starring gig on CBS’ Blue Bloods. He will appear in the November 21 episode, as Donald Stein, a charismatic scion of a New York real estate dynasty who is also a highly respected Jewish leader. -Hunter Parrish (Weeds) is appearing on Fox’s The Following in the upcoming third season, premiering in early 2015, as Kyle, one half of a “murderous” couple. -HBO has given a pilot order to Codes of Conduct, a provocative exploration of a young African-American man’s experience entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems. -The CW is developing The Illusionist as a TV adapation. -Syfy has taken on the graphic novel Dark Matter for a 13-episode drama to debut in 2015. -Lori Petty will appear in a multi-episode arc on Netflix’s third season of Orange Is the New Black. -Syfy has set a premiere date for 12 Monkeys. It will debut on Friday, January 16 at 9pm ET. Red Band Society, Scorpion, CSI:Cyber, Saturday Night Live and lots more!

I have a lot of stuff to go over since I was absent last week. This will be split up into two different blog posts. 

-TNT is set to team up with Mark Wahlberg for a drama series based on the 2007 conspiracy thriller Shooter. John Hlavin (Underworld: Awakening, The Shield) will write the series, now in development, and will executive produce with Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. The story centers on a marksman, former U.S. Marine Scout Sniper Bob Lee Swagger (Wahlberg), who is coaxed back into action only to be framed for murder and goes on the run. -Mandy Moore (Saved, A Walk to Remember) has booked a big role on Fox’s new show Red Band Society. -Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Saddam, 24) has landed a guest starring role on CBS new drama Scorpion. She will play Dr. Cassandra Davis, a psychologist assigned to evaluate Walter and team following a chaotic and costly conclusion to one of their cases. -Luke Perry (90210) is set to join the newest CSI spinoff CSI:Cyber in a potentially recurring role. He will play Nick Dalton, a former FBI agent who was destined to run the cyber unit in Washington DC. After a classified falling out, Dalton set his sights on becoming a “futurist” for the private sector. Apparently Dalton will hold many secrets to Avery’s backstory. -Judd Apatow is working with Netflix to create a new relationship comedy TV series called Love, that already has a two season straight-to-series pickup. The show will star Paul Rust (I Love You, Beth Cooper) and Gillian Jacobs (Community) which follows Gus (Rust) and Mickey (Jacobs) as they navigate the exhilaration and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, and other things they were hoping to avoid. -NBC with the help of Scot Armstrong (Old School, The Hangover Part II), who is writing the show, is creating a TV series based on 1990 comedy Problem Child. The movies features John Ritter and Amy Yasbeck as a couple conned into adopting a troubled 7-year-old boy who wreaks havoc in their lives and leaves a path of destruction. Saturday Night Live has a new announcer. After Don Pardo’s death, they have asked Darrel Hammond to be the show’s new official announcer. SNL kicks off season 40 on September 27 with host Chris Pratt and Musical Guest Ariana Grande. Then on October 4 there is Sarah Silverman and Maroon 5.
