-Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous, Gone Girl) has landed the the lead role in Cinemax’s new exorcism drama Outcast, based off Robert Kirkman’s comic series of the same name out this summer. Other cast members include Philip Glenister (Life on Mars) and Gabriel Bateman (Stalker, Annabelle). Fugit will star as Kyle Barnes, a young man who’s been plagued by possession since he was a child. He sets out to seek answers, only to uncover something that could end all life on Earth as we know it. Glenister will play Reverend Anderson and Bateman has been cast as 8-year-old Joshua Austin. -ABC has announced the premiere dates for Galavant and Marvel’s Agent Carter. Galavant premieres Sunday, January 4 at 8pm ET, while Marvel’s Agent Carter premieres Tuesday, January 6 at 9pm ET. Justified has cast Jeff Fahey (Lost, Under the Dome) in a multi-episode arc. -CBS has announced that they are planning an alliance with Sony’s planned online service, a 24/7 news platform called CBSN, and a possible direct-consumer offering from Showtime in 2015. -DirectTV has ordered to series a drama starring Adam Brody (The O.C.) and Lisa Joyce (A Master Builder) about step-siblings who fall in love. -Netflix is adapting Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events into a live-action series. -Geoff Stults (Enlisted) is set to co-write a multi-camera comedy for CBS, as well as possibly star in it himself. The untitled comedy centers on Martin “Marty” Booker, who is a firefighter, average Joe, ladies man and three-time firehouse Beer Pong Olympics champion who had no real ambition in life. -Rosie O’Donnell is set to guest star on additional episodes of ABC Family’s The Fosters. O’Donnell will maintain her role of Rita Hendricks from the first season in two upcoming episodes of the show’s second season, set to air in early 2015. -CBS has announced that the seventh and final season of The Mentalist will premiere on Sunday, November 30 at 9:30pm ET, 9pm PT. -NBC has cancelled Bad Judge and A to Z. They have announced that they will not produce any more episodes beyond their initial orders of 13 episodes each. Bad Judge has shot 10 episodes; A to Z has shot 11. -Yvette Nicole Brown (Community) has landed a recurring role on the reboot of The Odd Couple. She will play Dani, assistant to Matthew Perry’s Oscar. She has replaced Sarah Baker, who was let go shortly after the show was ordered to series. This does not mean that she is leaving Community‘s sixth season reboot on Yahoo Screen and is expected to return to the show in some capacity. Since they have different shooting schedules, she could conceivably do both. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has added Henry Simmons (NYPD Blue) in a recurring role as agent Alphonso “Mac” Mackenzie, a mechanic in his early 30s. -Danny Masterson (That ’70s Show) will have a guest starring role on USA’s series Royal Pains in which he will play the brother of returning guest Kyle Howard (My Boys). Kyle Howard first appeared on season 3 as Dr. Paul Van Dyke but left to start his own concierge practice in Miami. Paul will come back fro the season 6 finale as a patient of HankMed’s. Masterson will play Paul’s brother, Danny Van Dyke, a wealthy hedge fund manager who needs a kidney transplant but is reluctant to accept his brother’s organ.
