-Patricia Richardson (Home Improvement) has booked a guest-starring role on Last Man Standing. She will play Helen Potts, a recently divorced neighbor of Mike’s (Allen) who has gotten into a bit of conflict with Mike’s frenemy, Chuck (Jonathan Adams). Last Man Standing returns with a one-hour season premiere on Friday, October 3 at 8pm on ABC. http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/09/26/last-man-standing-patricia-richardson-home-improvement/

-Christian Camargo (Haven, Dexter) is set to guest star on Elementary as a past (and possibly future) love of Joan Watson (Lucy Liu). His character, Chris, is Joan’s former medical colleague as well as her ex-boyfriend and he reaches out to her for help with a problem–but during the course of their association, old feelings get stirred up. -ABC Family has renewed Young & Hungry for a second season. They have also picked up its first-ever procedural drama Stitchers. -Naomi Campbell has joined Fox’s new show Empire as Camilla, an alluring woman involved in a steamy affair with the much-young Hakeem (newcomer Bryshere Gray), the potential heir to Lucious’ throne. The drama is set in the world of a hip-hop empire and stars Taraji P. Henson as Cookie Lyon, the ex-wife of Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), the head of a record label at the center of the series. -There are new Big Brother Season 16 twists! First, there will be two heads of household each week (instead of just one), meaning there will now be two victors and four contestants on the block (since each HoH nominates two people). The second twist is that the season will introduce a new competition called “Battle of the Block”, meaning the Head of Household is no longer guaranteed safety. Julie Chen, host of the show, also said that “Team America” would have more control than ever as to what goes on in the house. -Mindy Kaling and Carson Daly have been announced as the hosts of the 66th Primetime Emmy Nominations. The nominations will be revealed July 10 at 8:40 am ET. The Magic School Bus is coming back to your TV! Netflix and Scholastic Media have teamed up to launch a new CG animated original series, called The Magic School Bus 360°, based on 1990s’ PBS kids TV series. Doctor Who is coming to a city near you (hopefully)! The show is launching a global world tour this summer visiting seven cities across five continents to introduce the 12th Time Lord, Peter Capaldi, to the world. -Comedy Central has renewed Inside Amy ShumerReview, and Trip Tank. All three shows will return with the new episodes sometime next year. -Disney is set to launch a new series based off the Lion King called The Lion Guard. The animated series will launch with a TV movie premiering in fall 2015, and a series will follow in early 2016 on both Disney Channel and Disney Junior. The show will follow Kion, the second-born son of Simba and Nala, who leads a group called the Lion Guard that protects the Pride Lands. -Paula Deen is set to launch a new cooking network, The Paula Deen Network, on the web. The paid subscription-based network will launch in September. -Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., and Sara Ramirez have all signed new two-year deals for Grey’s Anatomy. Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey have already extended their contracts through season 12. Even though ABC has yet to pick up the show for season 11, the announcement is expected soon. Law & Order: SVU is apparently doing a Terry Richardson episode. The May 14th episode, titled “Thought Criminal” will resolve around a “a well-regarded photographer with a secret life.” Sounds good! -A Veronica Mars spin-off series starring Ryan Hansen is coming to the CW Seed (their digital-only studio). It will be called Play It Again, Dick. The show will be co-written and produced by series creator Rob Thomas and will star Hansen as himself as he tries to get his Veronica Mars character, Dick Casablancas, a spin-off of his own. Expect multiple guest appearances from various Veronica Mars alums. -Upcoming Bachelorette contestant Eric Hill has died after a paragliding accident. He was apparently already eliminated from the competition when the accident occurred. The newest season is currently filming. Bachelorette creator Mike Feiss said that “we’re going to try be as sensitive as possible” while airing the episodes he’s in.
