-Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous, Gone Girl) has landed the the lead role in Cinemax’s new exorcism drama Outcast, based off Robert Kirkman’s comic series of the same name out this summer. Other cast members include Philip Glenister (Life on Mars) and Gabriel Bateman (Stalker, Annabelle). Fugit will star as Kyle Barnes, a young man who’s been plagued by possession since he was a child. He sets out to seek answers, only to uncover something that could end all life on Earth as we know it. Glenister will play Reverend Anderson and Bateman has been cast as 8-year-old Joshua Austin. -ABC has announced the premiere dates for Galavant and Marvel’s Agent Carter. Galavant premieres Sunday, January 4 at 8pm ET, while Marvel’s Agent Carter premieres Tuesday, January 6 at 9pm ET. Justified has cast Jeff Fahey (Lost, Under the Dome) in a multi-episode arc. -CBS has announced that they are planning an alliance with Sony’s planned online service, a 24/7 news platform called CBSN, and a possible direct-consumer offering from Showtime in 2015. -DirectTV has ordered to series a drama starring Adam Brody (The O.C.) and Lisa Joyce (A Master Builder) about step-siblings who fall in love. -Netflix is adapting Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events into a live-action series. -Geoff Stults (Enlisted) is set to co-write a multi-camera comedy for CBS, as well as possibly star in it himself. The untitled comedy centers on Martin “Marty” Booker, who is a firefighter, average Joe, ladies man and three-time firehouse Beer Pong Olympics champion who had no real ambition in life. -Rosie O’Donnell is set to guest star on additional episodes of ABC Family’s The Fosters. O’Donnell will maintain her role of Rita Hendricks from the first season in two upcoming episodes of the show’s second season, set to air in early 2015. -CBS has announced that the seventh and final season of The Mentalist will premiere on Sunday, November 30 at 9:30pm ET, 9pm PT. -NBC has cancelled Bad Judge and A to Z. They have announced that they will not produce any more episodes beyond their initial orders of 13 episodes each. Bad Judge has shot 10 episodes; A to Z has shot 11. -Lauren Ambrose has joined USA Network’s Dig, a six-episode event series airing this fall. It centers on Peter Connelly, an FBI agent currently stationed in Jerusalem who, while investigating the murder of an American archeologist, uncovers a conspiracy 2,000 years in the making. -Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., and Sara Ramirez have all signed new two-year deals for Grey’s Anatomy. Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey have already extended their contracts through season 12. Even though ABC has yet to pick up the show for season 11, the announcement is expected soon. Law & Order: SVU is apparently doing a Terry Richardson episode. The May 14th episode, titled “Thought Criminal” will resolve around a “a well-regarded photographer with a secret life.” Sounds good! -The entire NCIS has signed on for season 12. Michael Weatherly’s new deal is to close imminently while Sean Murray, Pauley Perrett, David McCallum, and Rocky Carroll have already signed the new contracts. -A Veronica Mars spin-off series starring Ryan Hansen is coming to the CW Seed (their digital-only studio). It will be called Play It Again, Dick. The show will be co-written and produced by series creator Rob Thomas and will star Hansen as himself as he tries to get his Veronica Mars character, Dick Casablancas, a spin-off of his own. Expect multiple guest appearances from various Veronica Mars alums.
