-Chelsea Clinton has left NBC News after three years (starting in December 2011) as a special correspondent. In recent months she has been criticized at the network for her substantial salary (reportedly $600,000 annually). -New ABC series Marvel’s Agent Carter has cast Enver Gjokaj (Dollhouse) and Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill) in series regular roles. The series will star Hayley Atwell as Steve Rogers’ girlfriend, Agent Carter, as she builds her career as a secret agent while the hero is frozen in ice. The show will take place a year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. Gjokaj will play Agent Daniel Sousa, while Murray will play Agent Jack Thompson, both of whom meet Carter while she takes on a new role at the pre-SHIELD Strategic Scientific Reserve in New York City. -Taylor Swift as joined The Voice as a season seven advisor. She will serve in the same capacity that Coldplay singer, Chris Martin, aided the show in its sixth season, advising contestants from all four teams. -TBS has canceled Cee Lo Green’s The Good Life. The decision comes right after Green has had major controversy following tweets about the nature of rape. -Yvette Nicole Brown (Community) has landed a recurring role on the reboot of The Odd Couple. She will play Dani, assistant to Matthew Perry’s Oscar. She has replaced Sarah Baker, who was let go shortly after the show was ordered to series. This does not mean that she is leaving Community‘s sixth season reboot on Yahoo Screen and is expected to return to the show in some capacity. Since they have different shooting schedules, she could conceivably do both. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has added Henry Simmons (NYPD Blue) in a recurring role as agent Alphonso “Mac” Mackenzie, a mechanic in his early 30s. -Danny Masterson (That ’70s Show) will have a guest starring role on USA’s series Royal Pains in which he will play the brother of returning guest Kyle Howard (My Boys). Masterson will play Paul’s brother, Danny Van Dyke, a wealthy hedge fund manager who needs a kidney transplant but is reluctant to accept his brother’s organ. The Mindy Project has cast Rhea Perlman (Cheers) in a recurring role for season 3 as Danny Castellano’s mother, Annette Castellano. Colbert moving to the Late Show, guest stars, and Girl Meets World teaser!

TONIGHT ON TV April 10, 2014:

-Unless you haven’t listened, watched, or read any media today then you probably know that Stephen Colbert will be replacing David Letterman as the new host of The Late Show. CBS has made a 5-year deal with Colbert. No word on his premiere date yet but it will be announced after Letterman figures out when his final broadcast will be in 2015. The audience will decide which director should win $250,000. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Mind Games, Graceland, and more!

SERIES PREMIERES, March 27, 2014:

  • Surviving Jack (Christopher Meloni) starts at 9:30/8:30c on FOX

-ABC’s Mind Games has been cancelled due to low rating for the past five episodes. For the next two weeks the network will use the Tuesday 10pm time slot to show repeat episodes of Resurrection (which originally airs on Sunday). -Michelle Borth is apparently leaving Hawaii Five-O. She played Catherine ‘Cat’ Rollins since the first season but she will not be returning for the fifth season of the show. No word on how she is making her exit but the executive producer did the second-to-last episode would feature “some flashbacks to [Catherine’s] stint in the military”. White Collar, The Comeback, more Game of Thrones, and more!

-USA has renewed White Collar for a six-episode 6th season and many in the TV news industry are saying that it will be its last season. They are usually right so,  I would start the grieving process now. I’ll let you know when the official word comes in that it will be the last season. The first 4 seasons are on Netflix. -HBO is apparently planning on bring back the cult comedy The Comeback which stars Lisa Kudrow. It was only on for a season in 2005 but got nominated for three Emmy awards and HBO is doing an “Arrested Development” type deal and bringing it back now that it has a cult following. -ABC is launching another show to its Bachelor franchise which will air this summer. It’s called Bachelor in Paradise. It will be like Bachelor Pad but in a more tropical setting. -Showtime’s Master of Sex has cast Danny Huston (American Horror Story, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) has a key role for season 2. He will play Dr. Douglas Greathouse, the privileged head of a hospital’s Obstetrics Department. -David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the creators, writers, producers, directors, of the massively popular Game of Thrones on HBO have signed on for two more seasons of the show. The producers told EW that they suspect Game of Thrones will conclude after seven seasons. -Patton Oswalt is coming to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He will appear in an upcoming episode as Agent Eric Koenig, who is part of Nick Fury’s team of WWII soldiers (at least in the original Marvel comics).
