The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, You’re the Worst, and Utopia

black-ish has cast Jenifer Lewis (Meet the Browns, Strong Medicine) to play Dre’s (Anthony Anderson) overbearing mom in a recurring role. Lewis’ character Ruby is described as follows: “She smothers pork chops with gravy, Dre with love, and would like to flat out smother [Dre’s wife] Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross), who feels the same way about her.” She will make her first appearance later this season. http://tvline.com/2014/09/30/black-ish-cast-jenifer-lewis-anthony-anderson-mother/

-Fox is remaking Big. Loosely based on the film, it will tell a new story that explores the line between being a kid and an adult–and how those things are more confused than ever in today’s world. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will set up shop at the Orpheum Theater in Phoenix following NBC’s telecast of Super Bowl XLIX and a special episode of The Blacklist on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Following the game, Fallon will spend a week in Los Angeles from Feb 2-5–marking the Tonight Show’s first visit west since it returned to 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York earlier this year. -Yvonne Strahovski (24) has booked a series regular role on the ABC drama Astronaut Wives Club. She will play Rene Carpenter, who is married to Mercury astronaut Scott Carpenter. A mother of four, she’s strong and upfront and enjoys the limelight but is and ready to use it for personal gain. -FX has also ordered comedy pilot Pariah from the guys behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. -Netflix has ordered Kong–King of the Apes, an animated children’s series set in 2050 San Francisco. The series is a fresh take on the classic King Kong story, Alcatraz Island has been transformed into a natural history and marine preserve, but chaos ensues when Kong becomes public enemy No. 1. The villian that framed him unleashes an army of gigantic robotic dinosaurs on the world and Kong is the only creature strong enough to stop them. He enlists the help of three young humans, who risk their lives to help Kong evade capture. -Fox has once again cut down on Utopia airings. From now on, the show will only air on Fridays (and has been yanked from Tuesday nights). Instead, Fox is going to launch the second season of Masterchef Junior in the Tuesday 8pm slot starting Nov 4. Next week, Fox will encore its Family Guy/Simpsons crossover episode in the time period, then have animated repeats the following week. -Disney has renewed Star Wars Rebels for second season on Disney XD.
