Rosie O’Donnell back to The View, Catfish, Shameless, The Dovekeepers, and much more!

TONIGHT on TV–July 17, 2014:

-Rosie O’Donnell is returning to The View now that Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd, and Jenny McCarthy are all leaving. O’Donnell will join moderator Whoopi Goldberg. Meghan McCain, John McCain’s daughter, is also in serious contention to join as co-host. Shepherd and McCarthy will remain on the show through August 8 and the new season is set to begin September 15.

-MTV has renewed Catfish for a fourth season. They just wrapped their third season a few weeks ago.

-Raza Jaffrey has joined the cast of Elementary for a guest-starring role as Lucy Liu’s new boyfriend, Andrew! He will be in the new season which begins Thursday, October 30 at 10/9c on CBS.

-USA Network has given a pilot order to Mr. Robot, a new drama about a young programmer, Elliot, who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them.

-A comedy series about professional soccer player Robbie Rogers, who became the first openly gay man to compete in a top North American professional sports league, is in the works at Universal Television.

-The Teen Beach 2 cast has been announced. The main stars Ross Lynch, Maia Mitchell, Grace Phipps, Garrett Clayton, and John DeLuca are all back as well as six bikers and surfers from the first movie. They are Jordan Fisher (Seacat), Chrissie Fit (Cheechee), Mollee Gray (Giggles), Kent Boyd (Rascal), Jessica Lee Keller (Struts), and Will Loftis (Lugnut). A premiere date has still not been announced, but I’m assuming it’ll be next summer.

-Robert Forster has joined the upcoming Fox series Backstrom as Everett Backstrom’s (Rainn Wilson) dad, Sheriff Blue Backstrom. He will appear in two episodes this season.

-Elizabeth Rodriguez has booked a recurring role on NBC’s Grimm, as Special Agent Chavez, an FBI agent with a hidden agenda and a secret identity.

-Cote De Pablo is set to star in CBS’s four-hour miniseries The Dovekeepers, which is set to air in 2015. The project is based on Alice Hoffman’s acclaimed historical novel about four extraordinary women whose lives intersect in a fight for survival at the siege of Masada. De Pablo will play Shirah, one of the four women.

-Dermot Mulroney has joined season 5 of Shameless in a recurring role as ex-bad boy and recovering addict Sean Pierce, Fiona’s new manager at Patsy’s Pies. Their relationship will be very flirtatious.

-The seventh and final season of Sons of Anarchy will premiere Tuesday September 9 at 10pm. The premiere will also be 1 hour and 45 minutes long.

CBS season finales, NBC renewals, CSI guest star, and a new look at Gotham!

-CBS has set the dates for their season finales from most of their shows. I will make a page with all the season finale dates but as stated yesterday I am extremely busy at the moment so I can’t write the page right now but I will try my best to get it to it this weekend.

-NBC has renewed Chicago FireChicago P.D., and Grimm. It joins fellow network favorites The BlacklistParks & RecreationThe Voice, and (maybe not really a favorite) Celebrity Apprentice (which skipped a season).

-Treat Williams (best known for his work on Everwood as Dr. “Andy” Brown) will be guest starring on CSI‘s season 14 finale currently supposed to air on May 7. He will play Sam, who was a Sheriff’s Deputy in the late 1980s and pioneered methods of crime scene investigating that put him way ahead of his time. Now, an old case involving the killing of a 12-year-old resurfaces and he is drawn back into the investigation.

-The first look for Detective Harvey Bullock on the upcoming FOX series Gotham has been released. He is played by Donal Logue (Sons of Anarchy, Vikings, Copper).
