-IFC has renewed The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret for a six-episode third season. Season 2 ended in early 2012 but the new season season will pick up right where the last season ended. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is introducing parents! Sandra Bernhard (Switched at Birth, Roseanne) will debut as Gina’s “eccentric” and “offbeat” mother, Darlene Linetti in the November 9 episode. -Brian Dennehy (Death of a Salesman, Presumed Innocent) and Neal McDonough (Desperate Housewives, Boomtown) have both booked major recurring roles on TNT’s Public Morals. The show is set in 1967 in New York City’s Public Morals Division, where cops walk the line between morality and criminality as the temptations that come from dealing with all kinds of vice that can get the better of them. Dennehy will play Joseph “Big Red” Patton, a powerful mobster who controls the west side of Manhattan. -Showtime has decided to go straight to series with In The Heat of the Night. The show is described as an exploration of character and race set in modern-day Mississippi. It is also based off the 1988 movie of the same name, which starred Carroll O’Connor and Howard E. -Amazon has renewed Transparent for a second season after becoming a number one hit on Amazon Prime Instant Video since its launch two weeks ago. The show  is about a transgendered parent, Maura formerly Mort (Jeffrey Tambor), who comes out to the LA family’s adult kids. The second season is slated to hit Amazon in 2015. The Flash, CW’s new superhero TV series, has cast Victor Garber (Alias) as Dr. Martin Stein, a brilliant but arrogant nuclear physicist who has sacrificed everything, including a marriage, for his work in transmutation. After he discovers the particle accelerator fused him with the younger, more impulsive Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell), he races to find a way to separate the two before it’s too late. -Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars) will join Suits in a guest-starring role as Mike’s ex-flame. She will only appear in flashbacks to Mike’s past as a bike messenger. -Andy Mientus (Smash) has joined The Flash as hearing impaired (and openly gay) DC Comics villian Pied Piper, aka Hartley Hathaway. One of DC’s original rogues, Hartley is a bona fide genius who used to work at S.T.A.R. Labs until a falling out with his mentor, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). The particle accelerator robbed Hartley of his hearing, but inspired him to create a series of sonic weapons that he uses in an effort to punish Wells by destroying his new protege: The Flash. -AT&T has finalized its deal to acquire DirectTV for $48.5 billion. -Lauren Ambrose has joined USA Network’s Dig, a six-episode event series airing this fall. It centers on Peter Connelly, an FBI agent currently stationed in Jerusalem who, while investigating the murder of an American archeologist, uncovers a conspiracy 2,000 years in the making. Ambrose will play Debbie, a dedicated follower of evangelist Ted Billingham (played by David Costabile) who spends most of her time looking after a fellow disciple, 13-year-old Josh (Zen McGrath) who suddenly disappears which makes Debbie begin to question the beliefs and choices that have led her to where she is. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/six-feet-unders-lauren-ambrose-705909

-Kristen Bell is going to host the 2014 CMT Music Awards by herself after previously hosting with Toby Keith in 2012 and Jason Aldean in 2013.
