Game of Thrones, Bates Motel, new Bravo shows, Doctor Who, and more!

TONIGHT ON TV April 8, 2014:

  • Justified (Season 5 finale, 10 pm, FX)

-HBO has renewed Game of Thrones for a fifth and sixth season one day after the fourth season premiere brought in a record breaking 6.6 million viewers which has only been topped by the series finale of The Sopranos in 2007. I’m assuming HBO is going to keep Game of Thrones around for as long as it can. http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/hbo-game-of-thrones-renewed-for-fifth-sixth-seasons/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

-A Battlestar Galactica movie is in the work. However the movie version (written by Jack Paglen) is a “complete reimagining of the story.” Glen Larson, the original series creator is a producer on the film.No word on production dates or anything of the sort. http://tvline.com/2014/04/07/battlestar-galactica-movie-ron-moore/

-Amy Jo Johnson will have a recurring role on the USA Network series Covert Affairs during the upcoming season 5. She will play Hayley, a National Counter Terrorism Center investigator who knows how to stand her ground and will go head-to head with Auggie (Christopher Gorham) when the intelligence community faces a united threat. The 16-episode fifth season airs this summer. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/covert-affairs-amy-jo-johnson-693884

-Enver Gjokaj will join Rizzoli & Isles for a multi-episode arc. He will appear in roughly 3 episodes and will play Jack Keystone, a charming Boston University (!!, sorry it’s my school) professor who enters the lives of Jane and Maura in a new and exciting way. Rizzoli & Isles returns Tuesday, June 17 at 9/8c on TNT. http://tvline.com/2014/04/07/rizzoli-isles-season-5-cast-enver-gjokaj-professor-jack-keystone/

-A&E has picked up Bates Motel for a third season after an impressive start of season 2. The third season will consist of 10 episodes and will begin production this fall. Bates Motel airs Mondays at 10 pm/ET on A&E. http://www.thetvaddict.com/2014/04/07/breaking-tv-news-ae-picks-up-bates-motel-for-a-thirds-season/

-NBC has ordered a six-episode series called Epic Funnies (tentative title). It will an hour-long variety clip show very similar to its competitor America’s Funniest Home Videos. No word on when it will air or production dates or anything. http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/nbc-orders-clip-show-from-producers-stephen-mcpherson-bruce-gersh/

Doctor Who is adding a “storming villian” for the upcoming season. Ben Miller play the villian. I have no idea what a “storming villian” is or what he will do, it’s just what Steven Moffat said.  http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/doctor-who-adds-storming-villain-694461

-Bravo has unveiled 15 new series, 3 projects in development, and 16 returning series. For more on each show, check out the link. http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/bravo-unveils-15-new-series-3-projects-in-development-16-returning-series/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
