-IFC has renewed The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret for a six-episode third season. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is introducing parents! Sandra Bernhard (Switched at Birth, Roseanne) will debut as Gina’s “eccentric” and “offbeat” mother, Darlene Linetti in the November 9 episode. -Brian Dennehy (Death of a Salesman, Presumed Innocent) and Neal McDonough (Desperate Housewives, Boomtown) have both booked major recurring roles on TNT’s Public Morals. The show is set in 1967 in New York City’s Public Morals Division, where cops walk the line between morality and criminality as the temptations that come from dealing with all kinds of vice that can get the better of them. Dennehy will play Joseph “Big Red” Patton, a powerful mobster who controls the west side of Manhattan. -Showtime has decided to go straight to series with In The Heat of the Night. The show is described as an exploration of character and race set in modern-day Mississippi. It is also based off the 1988 movie of the same name, which starred Carroll O’Connor and Howard E. -Amazon has renewed Transparent for a second season after becoming a number one hit on Amazon Prime Instant Video since its launch two weeks ago. The show  is about a transgendered parent, Maura formerly Mort (Jeffrey Tambor), who comes out to the LA family’s adult kids. The second season is slated to hit Amazon in 2015. The Flash, CW’s new superhero TV series, has cast Victor Garber (Alias) as Dr. Martin Stein, a brilliant but arrogant nuclear physicist who has sacrificed everything, including a marriage, for his work in transmutation. After he discovers the particle accelerator fused him with the younger, more impulsive Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell), he races to find a way to separate the two before it’s too late. -Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars) will join Suits in a guest-starring role as Mike’s ex-flame. She will only appear in flashbacks to Mike’s past as a bike messenger. -Andy Mientus (Smash) has joined The Flash as hearing impaired (and openly gay) DC Comics villian Pied Piper, aka Hartley Hathaway. One of DC’s original rogues, Hartley is a bona fide genius who used to work at S.T.A.R. Labs until a falling out with his mentor, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). The particle accelerator robbed Hartley of his hearing, but inspired him to create a series of sonic weapons that he uses in an effort to punish Wells by destroying his new protege: The Flash. Twin Peaks, Dallas, and Hollywood Game Night

-Showtime is bringing back Twin Peaks for a new limited series run. Series creators David Lynch and Mark Frost are on board to write and produce all nine episodes of the limited series, while David Lynch will also direct every episode. -Angela Kinsey (The Office) is set to have a role on NBC’s new show Bad Judge. -Hugh Laurie (House M.D.) and Tom Hiddleston (Thor) are set to star in a limited-series adaptation of John le Carre’s 1993 espionage thriller, The Night Manager. BBC will air it in the U.K. and for now, no U.S. network has attached to the series yet but I would not be surprised if it happened soon. The Night Manager centers on Jonathan Pine, a former British soldier turned night auditor for a luxury hotel. Pine meets a French-Arab woman named Sophie, who gives him information on Richard Onslow Roper, a black market dealer who specializes in weapons, to turn over to British intelligence. Sophie’s betrayal to Roper gets her killed, and Pine becomes a spy with intelligence operatives in order to infiltrate Roper’s ring and avenge Sophie’s death. -Nicholas Brendon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) has landed a guest-starring role on MTV’s Faking It. The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, You’re the Worst, and Utopia

black-ish has cast Jenifer Lewis (Meet the Browns, Strong Medicine) to play Dre’s (Anthony Anderson) overbearing mom in a recurring role. -Fox is remaking Big. Loosely based on the film, it will tell a new story that explores the line between being a kid and an adult–and how those things are more confused than ever in today’s world. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will set up shop at the Orpheum Theater in Phoenix following NBC’s telecast of Super Bowl XLIX and a special episode of The Blacklist on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Following the game, Fallon will spend a week in Los Angeles from Feb 2-5–marking the Tonight Show’s first visit west since it returned to 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York earlier this year. -FX has also ordered comedy pilot Pariah from the guys behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. -Netflix has ordered Kong–King of the Apes, an animated children’s series set in 2050 San Francisco. The series is a fresh take on the classic King Kong story, Alcatraz Island has been transformed into a natural history and marine preserve, but chaos ensues when Kong becomes public enemy No. 1. The villian that framed him unleashes an army of gigantic robotic dinosaurs on the world and Kong is the only creature strong enough to stop them. He enlists the help of three young humans, who risk their lives to help Kong evade capture. -Fox has once again cut down on Utopia airings. From now on, the show will only air on Fridays (and has been yanked from Tuesday nights). Instead, Fox is going to launch the second season of Masterchef Junior in the Tuesday 8pm slot starting Nov 4. Next week, Fox will encore its Family Guy/Simpsons crossover episode in the time period, then have animated repeats the following week. Humans, Supergirl, 11/22/63, True Detective and more!

-AMC has picked up the UK’s show Humans, a co-production deal between Channel 4 and Xbox Entertainment Studios,  but was dropped by Xbox Entertainment Studios over the summer as part of Microsofts’s plan to cut 18,000 jobs. Channel 4 was looking for a U.S. partner and found it in AMC. Production of the sci-fi drama will start this fall for a 2015 premiere. The show is set in a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a ‘Synth’–a highly-developed robotic servant eerily similar to its live counterpart. In the hope of transforming the way they live, one strained suburban family purchases a refurbished synth only to discover that sharing life with a machine has far-reaching and chilling consequences. -CBS has given a series commitment to an hour-long drama about Kara Zor-El, the DC Comics heroines who escaped the planet Krypton amid its destruction. Having hid all this time on Earth the powers she share with “her famous cousin”, 24-year-old Kara decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and “be the here she was meant to be.” The pilot was penned by Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow). -Hulu has placed a direct-to-series order for 11/22/63, a nine-hour adaptation of Stephen King’s time-travel novel about the Kennedy Assassination. The miniseries follows high school English teacher Jake Epping, who travels back in time to try to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas. J.J. Abrams is also working on the project. -HBO has confirmed that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will star in the second season of True Detective. The official logline for the new season is, “Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.” They also confirmed the season season will be eight episodes and shoot in California with Justin Lin directing the first two episodes of the new season. Colin Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.” Vince Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, “a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.” True Detective will shoot later this fall. -Rachel McAdams is said to be locking down a lead role in season 2 of HBO’s True Detective. Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) is also rumored to be the last main cast member. -Craig Robinson will return in Brooklyn Nine-Nine as the Pontiac Bandit. -CBS has decided to continue double-pumping Big Bang Theory on Monday nights for the next three weeks. Originally Big Bang Theory was set to air two episodes on Monday at 8 and 8:30pm this week only before downshifting to one episode at 8pm and new episodes of Mom at 8:30pm. But now two episodes of Big Bang Theory — the second will be a repeat — will run on Sept 29, Oct 6, and Oct 13 with the Mom return pushed until Oct 30. Also, once everything is fixed Mom will return to Thursdays and The Millers will air on Mondays instead. Outlander will return to Starz for the second half of its freshman season on April 4. The midseason finale is set to air at 9pm on Saturday (Sept 27) with eight new episodes following in 2015. -TNT is set to team up with Mark Wahlberg for a drama series based on the 2007 conspiracy thriller Shooter. John Hlavin (Underworld: Awakening, The Shield) will write the series, now in development, and will executive produce with Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. The story centers on a marksman, former U.S. Marine Scout Sniper Bob Lee Swagger (Wahlberg), who is coaxed back into action only to be framed for murder and goes on the run. -Mandy Moore (Saved, A Walk to Remember) has booked a big role on Fox’s new show Red Band Society. He will play Nick Dalton, a former FBI agent who was destined to run the cyber unit in Washington DC. After a classified falling out, Dalton set his sights on becoming a “futurist” for the private sector. Apparently Dalton will hold many secrets to Avery’s backstory. -Judd Apatow is working with Netflix to create a new relationship comedy TV series called Love, that already has a two season straight-to-series pickup. The show will star Paul Rust (I Love You, Beth Cooper) and Gillian Jacobs (Community) which follows Gus (Rust) and Mickey (Jacobs) as they navigate the exhilaration and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, and other things they were hoping to avoid. The Walking Dead companion series, The Late Late Show, Manhunt, and more!

-A The Walking Dead companion series pilot is on the verge of becoming an actual series. AMC has officially ordered a pilot set in the same zombie-plagued universe as The Walking Dead. The untitled project will go into production later this year and will be set in a different location than the original series as well as star a new cast of characters. Scandal is changing the first daughter! Instead of Madeline Carroll playing the role of First Daughter Karen Grant, Mary Mouser (Body of Proof) will be taking over the role, which will apparently get much bigger during season four. -Taylor Swift as joined The Voice as a season seven advisor.
