The Walking Dead companion series, The Late Late Show, Manhunt, and more!

-A The Walking Dead companion series pilot is on the verge of becoming an actual series. AMC has officially ordered a pilot set in the same zombie-plagued universe as The Walking Dead. The untitled project will go into production later this year and will be set in a different location than the original series as well as star a new cast of characters. The Walking Dead returns for its fifth season on October 12 on AMC.

Scandal is changing the first daughter! Instead of Madeline Carroll playing the role of First Daughter Karen Grant, Mary Mouser (Body of Proof) will be taking over the role, which will apparently get much bigger during season four. Mouser will first appear in an October episode. Scandal returns September 25 at 9/8c on ABC.

-CBS has announced that James Corden (Gavin and Stacey) is the new host of The Late Late Show after Craig Ferguson announced that he would be stepping down as the host in December. He will take over next year at some point.

-NBC has ordered a 10-episode straight to series order of an anthology drama called Manhunt. Each season of Manhunt will dramatize the mounting tension of an entire city on the hunt for a fugitive roaming the streets at large. “It will examine the moment an American or international city becomes a police state, a war zone, or a ground zero and the ensuing bloodlust it inspires.

The Newsroom’s third and final season, The Comeback season two, and Getting On season two are all returning to HBO on Sunday, November 9th beginning at 9pm!

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will be heading to Austin for Election 2014 coverage. They will be there for a week of shows leading up to Election Day 2014, broadcasting in the capital city where the indicted Texas governor still rules. “Democalypse 2014: South by South Mess” will be taped at ZACH Theatre in Austin, airing at 11pm ET/PT from Monday, October 27 through Thursday October 30, 2014. They also promise to cover politcal midterm election races across the country, not just from Texas that week.

-Halle Berry and House executive producer Katie Jacobs are teaming up for another medical drama with an unorthodox protagonist. The untitled project centers on an enigmatic surgeon who imprisons himself in a state-of-the-art private hospital on the grounds of prison.

-Zachary Quinto has been cast in a provocative mini-series The Slap. The show is billed as a complex family drama about what happens after a man slaps another couple’s misbehaving child Quinto will play the role of Harry, the slapper. The mini-series, which will consist of eight episodes, is based on an acclaimed 2001 Australian project is written by Jon Robin Baitz.

-Fox is developing a new series with the pitch, “After a devastating supernatural attack, an Iraq war vet takes it as his mission to hunt down the most viscerally terrifying paranormal phenomenon.”

-Barbara Streisand is set for a rare Late-Night appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She will be the only guest on the September 15 episode to mark the release of her album Partners, which hits stores the following day.
