Amazon Pilot season, Marco Polo, The Blacklist, Full House, and so much more!

A look at what is coming to Netflix Instant for September 2014

-Netflix has announced that its new original series Marco Polo will have a December 12 premiere date for all 10 episodes. The series is a historical saga which focuses on Polo’s sojourn into 13th-century China, then ruled by Kublai Khan. They also released 5 sneak peek photos which you can check out in the link below.

-Amazon has debuted their third pilot season, where the consumer can screen and then vote on a total of five new projects that are happening. The pilots are now online through Amazon Instant Video. The brief summaries of the five new shows (ReallyHand of GodThe CosmopolitansHysteria, and Red Oaks) are in the link below.

-Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for The Blacklist at $2 million per episode. Season 1 of the NBC show is expected to debut September 7th on the site.

-Warner Bros. TV is eyeing a possible revival of the hit show Full House. The show may return with some of the original cast intact, including John Stamos, who is actively working to get the show back on the air. The show’s creator Jeff Franklin would pen the revival, with cast members Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber each playing a role in the project. Bob Saget and Dave Coulier would also be involved, though it’s unclear in what capacity. There is no network attached yet, and the project is in very early stages of pre-production.

-Steve Zahn (Treme, Mind Games, Joy Ride) has joined Modern Family for its sixth season in a key role as the Dunphy’s horrible new neighbor. He will play “Ronnie,” the husband of an annoying family that moves in next door to the Dunphys. It is described as a recurring guest-star role. Modern Family returns to ABC on Wednesday, September 24.

-Matt Bomer (White Collar) is set to sguest star on an episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show. No idea who he will play in the role. American Horror Story premieres on FX on Wednesday, October 8th.

-Niecy Nash (Reno 911!, Getting On) has joined The Mindy Project as Mindy Lahiri’s nemesis who also happens to be a lesbian. Nash will play a recurring character Dr. Jean Fishman, who is the new cheif of Shulman & Associates’ admitting hospital. She is described as a tough physician from Boston who is a take-no-prisoners type and puts up with no nonsense whatsoever. The Mindy Project returns to Fox on Tuesday, September 16.

-Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live) has joined Parks and Recreation for at least one episode (possibly more) during its final season. She will play the nanny to Leslie and Ben’s triplets. The seventh and final season of the show is expected to premiere in 2015.

A to Z, Westworld, Suits, The One Percent, God Fearing Man and more!

-Want to watch the pilot episode of NBC’s new romantic comedy A to Z? Check out the digital premiere (in the link) before the series premiere Thursday, October 2 at 9:30/8:30c. The show tells the story of Andrew and Zelda- a pair that almost wasn’t- and all that happened from the day they met.

-Yvette Nicole Brown (Community) has landed a recurring role on the reboot of The Odd Couple. She will play Dani, assistant to Matthew Perry’s Oscar. She has replaced Sarah Baker, who was let go shortly after the show was ordered to series. This does not mean that she is leaving Community‘s sixth season reboot on Yahoo Screen and is expected to return to the show in some capacity. Since they have different shooting schedules, she could conceivably do both. The Odd Couple is supposed to air midseason on CBS.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has added Henry Simmons (NYPD Blue) in a recurring role as agent Alphonso “Mac” Mackenzie, a mechanic in his early 30s. S.H.I.E.L.D. will begin its sophomore season on Tuesday, September 23 at 9/8c on ABC.

-James Marsden (X-Men, Anchorman) has joined HBO’s drama pilot Westworld as a series regular. He will play Teddy Flood, a mysterious new arrival to the small frontier town who quickly proves both his charm — an his talent with a revolver. His pursuit of a local beauty launches him on a dark odyssey.

Westworld has also added Thandie Newton to the cast. She will play Maeve Millay, a beautiful and razor-sharp madame whose seen-it-all-before worldview is about to be truly challenged.

-William Mapother (Lost) has gotten a small role (and possibly recurring) as Tyler Waters, an engaging, messianic tech visionary who presents a genuine alternative to the government, and a provocative vision of the future in Lifetime’s new series The Lottery which airs Sundays at 10/9c.

Geena Davis will have a major guest arc in season 11 of Grey’s Anatomy in which she will play a surgeon at the hospital. The new season begins September 25 at 8pm ET on ABC.

-Terrell Owens (Former NFL wide receiver) has filmed a guest appearance for Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s sophomore season. He will play himself in a NYPD-FDNY football game. Season 2 premieres September 28 on FOX.

-USA has renewed Suits for a fifth season! The new season will consist of 16 episodes for next summer. They are midway through the fourth season at the moment with the midseason finale set for August 20.

-Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under, Dexter) is returning to TV in Stanley Kubrick’s unproduced drama God Fearing Man. It will be produced as a miniseries, with eOne shopping it to networks. The show tells the true story of Canadian minister Herbert Emerson Wilson, who went on to become one of the best safecrackers and most successful American bank robbers in the early 20th century.

-Starz has picked up 10 episodes of the drama created by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, The One Percent starring Ed Helms, Hilary Swank, and Ed Harris. It is set in the world of organic farming. Helms will play “Alfred Murphy, a member of a dysfunctional family struggling to keep their farm from financial ruin, until a bizarre twist of fate changes their lives forever. Swank will play Helms’ wife, Laura Murphy while Harris will play the family patriarch Nathaniel Cobb.

-Mary McCormack (In Plain Sight) and Josh Randall (Ed) will guest-star as a power couple on Scandal‘s upcoming season for an episode . No other details on their storyline are available.

-Danny Masterson (That ’70s Show) will have a guest starring role on USA’s series Royal Pains in which he will play the brother of returning guest Kyle Howard (My Boys). Kyle Howard first appeared on season 3 as Dr. Paul Van Dyke but left to start his own concierge practice in Miami. Paul will come back fro the season 6 finale as a patient of HankMed’s. Masterson will play Paul’s brother, Danny Van Dyke, a wealthy hedge fund manager who needs a kidney transplant but is reluctant to accept his brother’s organ. Royal Pains airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on USA.

-Jacob Pitts (Justified) will guest-star in an upcoming episode of Elementary, as Paul Ettinger, a brilliant and wealthy mathematician who assembles a team of his fellow math geniuses to help identify a killer that Holmes and Watson are tracking. Elementary returns October 30 at 10pm ET on CBS.

-HBO has renewed The Leftovers for a second season!

-ABC is going to air a special that goes behind the scenes of the making of Disney’s Frozen. The special, The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic airs Tuesday, September 2. It will include interviews with stars Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, the directors, songwriters, producers, and artists, as well as CCO John Lasseter.

-ABC Family has renewed Switched at Birth for a fourth season!

-ABC Family has canceled Twisted after one season due to bad ratings.
