TONIGHT ON TV–July 24, 2014:

  • Black Box finale (2 episodes, ABC, 8pm)

-CBS has made it official! Late Show With Stephen Colbert will be staying in New York at Ed Sullivan Theater.

Ryan Sands (The Wire) has been given a guest starring role in the season 7 premiere of Castle. He will play Tagger, a Hamptons police sergeant who helps Beckett investigate the most difficult case of her career. The season 7 premiere is on Monday, September 29 at 10/9c on ABC!

-Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) will play Leonard Snart/Captain Cold in the upcoming show The Flash. He will appear in the first four episodes of the season. In the comic books, Leonard Snart/Captain Cold is a leader of the Rogues and considered an enemy of The Flash. The Flash premieres October 7 on The CW.

-Tyler Posey ( will be hosting the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday August 10th on Fox which start at 8pm.

-Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) will star in the HBO adaptation of the Broadway hit (in which he also starred in) All The Way. Cranston will reprise his role as Lyndon B. Johnson with playwright Robert Schenkkan on board to adapt the stage version for the small screen.

-Lucy Lawless (Xena, Spartacus, Battlestar Galactica) will be on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for the upcoming season. Details on her role and how long she’ll be sticking around are being kept under wraps. The second season returns Tuesday, September 23 at 9/8c on ABC.

-William Mapother (Lost) will be guest starring on an episode of the CBS police drama Hawaii Five-0. He will play Eric Porter, a likable, wealthy business owner who gets entangled in a painful and tense situation but offers his help to the authorities. His episode is slated to air sometime in the fall. The fifth season airs Friday, September 26 at 9/8c on CBS.

-Sarah Lancaster (Chuck) has been recruited for a recurring role on Witches of East End later this season. She will play Raven Moreau, who arrives in East End as part of a life-long “secret mission,” though she quickly develops a physical attraction to one of the Gardiner boys that could derail her big plan. The second season airs Sundays at 9/8c on Lifetime.
-Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs) and Evan Rachel Woods (The Wrestler, Across the Universe) will both co-star in the new HBO show Westworld based off of Michael Crichton’s 1973 film of the same name. Hopkins will play Dr. Robert Ford, the brilliant, taciturn and complicated creative director, chief programmer, and chairman of the board of Westworld. Woods will portray Dolores Abernathy, the quintessential farm girl of the frontier West, who is about to discover that her entire idyllic existence is an elaborately constructed lie. The show is only set for the pilot as of now.
The Mindy Project has cast Rhea Perlman (Cheers) in a recurring role for season 3 as Danny Castellano’s mother, Annette Castellano. She will apparently clash with both Mindy and Danny and will be introduced during the third episode entitled ‘Annette Castellano Is My Nemesis’. The third season premieres Tuesday, September 16 at 9:30 pm on Fox.

-Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds) will return to his daytime TV roots this fall when he reprises his role on CBS’ The Young and the Restless as Malcolm Winters but, he will only appear in two episodes which will air on Wednesday, September 10 and Thursday, September 11. In the new episodes, Malcolm will visit the Winters family to make amends for his hasty exit and to find out what’s been going on since the last time he was in town.

-Portia de Rossi (Arrested Development) is joining Scandal for its upcoming fourth season for multiple episodes. Scandal returns on Thursday, September 25 at 9/8c on ABC.

-Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones) has booked a season-long arc on the second season of Resurrection. She will play Margaret Langston, the formidable matriarch of the Langston clan. She’s Henry and Fred’s mother who has been dead for more than three decades. Resurrection returns Sunday, September 28 at 9pm on ABC.

-Judd Apatow’s daugter Maude Apatow has a guest-starring role in the upcoming season of Girls. She will playing a character named Cleo, who could potentially appear in several episodes. HBO would only confirm that Apatow will appear in Season 4, which premieres in early 2015.

-Jessica Biel (7th Heaven) is set to guest star in the season premiere of New Girl. She will play a stunning, super-smart scientist who is vying for the affections of a cute guy at a wedding against Jess. The fourth season airs September 16 on Fox.

-The CW has cancelled Backpackers and Seed effective immediately. It will move up the premiere date of the 21st cycle of America’s Next Top Model to August 18  (instead of August 22) because of that and will show Arrow repeats for the following Mondays before August 18.

-FX has renewed Fargo for a second season and Louie for a fifth season.

-TNT has renewed The Last ShipMajor Crimes, and Falling Skies for new seasons. The Last Ship will consist of 13 episodes for its second season. Major Crimes has gotten 15 episodes for its fourth season and for its fifth and final season Falling Skies has gotten 10 episodes.

-The CW has renewed Whose Line Is It Anyway? for a 24 episode third season which will air in 2015.

Rosie O’Donnell back to The View, Catfish, Shameless, The Dovekeepers, and much more!

TONIGHT on TV–July 17, 2014:

-Rosie O’Donnell is returning to The View now that Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd, and Jenny McCarthy are all leaving. O’Donnell will join moderator Whoopi Goldberg. Meghan McCain, John McCain’s daughter, is also in serious contention to join as co-host. Shepherd and McCarthy will remain on the show through August 8 and the new season is set to begin September 15.

-MTV has renewed Catfish for a fourth season. They just wrapped their third season a few weeks ago.

-Raza Jaffrey has joined the cast of Elementary for a guest-starring role as Lucy Liu’s new boyfriend, Andrew! He will be in the new season which begins Thursday, October 30 at 10/9c on CBS.

-USA Network has given a pilot order to Mr. Robot, a new drama about a young programmer, Elliot, who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them.

-A comedy series about professional soccer player Robbie Rogers, who became the first openly gay man to compete in a top North American professional sports league, is in the works at Universal Television.

-The Teen Beach 2 cast has been announced. The main stars Ross Lynch, Maia Mitchell, Grace Phipps, Garrett Clayton, and John DeLuca are all back as well as six bikers and surfers from the first movie. They are Jordan Fisher (Seacat), Chrissie Fit (Cheechee), Mollee Gray (Giggles), Kent Boyd (Rascal), Jessica Lee Keller (Struts), and Will Loftis (Lugnut). A premiere date has still not been announced, but I’m assuming it’ll be next summer.

-Robert Forster has joined the upcoming Fox series Backstrom as Everett Backstrom’s (Rainn Wilson) dad, Sheriff Blue Backstrom. He will appear in two episodes this season.

-Elizabeth Rodriguez has booked a recurring role on NBC’s Grimm, as Special Agent Chavez, an FBI agent with a hidden agenda and a secret identity.

-Cote De Pablo is set to star in CBS’s four-hour miniseries The Dovekeepers, which is set to air in 2015. The project is based on Alice Hoffman’s acclaimed historical novel about four extraordinary women whose lives intersect in a fight for survival at the siege of Masada. De Pablo will play Shirah, one of the four women.

-Dermot Mulroney has joined season 5 of Shameless in a recurring role as ex-bad boy and recovering addict Sean Pierce, Fiona’s new manager at Patsy’s Pies. Their relationship will be very flirtatious.

-The seventh and final season of Sons of Anarchy will premiere Tuesday September 9 at 10pm. The premiere will also be 1 hour and 45 minutes long.
